Basicity of Acids & Types of Salts
Basicity is the number of replaceable hydronium ions (HβOβΊ) produced per molecule of acid in aqueous solution. Monobasic: HCl, HNOβ, CHβCOOH (only 1 replaceable H). Dibasic: HβSOβ (forms both acid salt NaHSOβ and normal salt NaβSOβ). Normal salt: formed by complete replacement of replaceable HβΊ. Acid salt: formed by partial replacement of replaceable HβΊ.
